Battle For The Beer Barrel

The Battle For The Beer Barrel, as it was called for over 75 years until a 1999 DUI, continues this weekend. Kentucky visits TN in a must win game with major implications. The Vols lead the Wildcats in the longest, active win streak in the NCAA with 25 years of consecutive victories for the Vols. Also, if Tennessee does not win, the season is over as they will not qualify for a bowl game. We hope everyone will come and watch with us at the Tavern for brunch!

Vols Visit Vandy - Food Drive Thanks!

Bring all of your friends and family (even if they're not really UT fans!) to the Tavern Uptown this Saturday as the Vols try to scratch their way back to bowl eligibility.

Thanks to everyone for participating in the SEC Food Drive. We don't have the final results back but the Vols definitely performed well! Thanks to the Tavern as well for helping out with this. Everyone should pat themselves on the back for doing such a great job! :-)

Tennessee vs. Ole Miss

Ole Miss visits the Vols this weekend and we're all watching it at the Tavern! Come join us for brunch and don't forget to bring canned goods for the SEC Food Drive (see below). This game is early but the Tavern will open up for us, so don't hesitake to show up for kick-off.

The Vols visit the Tigers in Memphis this Saturday. We're predicted to win and sportswriters claim to notice improvements in the young and injured Tennessee team. We hope to see a lot Vols at the Tavern for this must-win game. We'll be out back on the patio (in orange... you can't miss us)!

SEC Food Drive - November 13th @ The Tavern

The Tavern and the Denver Vols are teaming up to compete in this year's Denver SEC Food Drive. As you may remember, Tennessee & Auburn each collected food last year in a friendly and successful competition. This year, almost the entire SEC is contributing. Bring in as many canned goods as you possibly "can" to the Tavern Uptown during the game on November 13th. All donations go to the Food Bank Of The Rockies.

If you forget to buy cans before the game then you can go at halftime to the nearby Safeway at 757 East 20th Avenue, Denver, CO 80205.

The Vols take on South Carolina this Saturday and we hope everyone will come hang out with us. Join us at the Tavern for brunch and some good old fashion SEC football (even though USC didn't join until the earlier 90's). Bring all of your friends and family as everyone is welcome!

Once again the 3rd Saturday In October is not actually on the 3rd Saturday, but the fourth. You can bet that the witless clown who scheduled this match up is not a fan of either team. Regardless, it's a traditional rivalry and we'll be at the Tavern cheering on the heavily not-so-favored Volunteers as they try their best to fend off Alabama in Neyland Stadium.

SEC Picnic!!!

Hey Vols, it's that time again! Show your love and join us at the annual SEC Picnic! By far one of the coolest events in town and one where we traditionally have a strong showing. Bring yourself, your significant other, your family, your friends... bring everyone and wear ORANGE!!!!!

When: Saturday, August 28th, 2010.
Time: noon - 5:00 PM
Where: We've moved for this year to Eisenhower Park, @ Dartmouth & South Colorado Blvd., just south of University Hills Shopping Center, and just East of Wellshire Golf
Cost: $15/person

BBQ Catering: Jim & Nicks will be providing the barbeque
- everyone gets pulled pork, BBQ Chicken, Choice of 2 or 3 from the following:
- Baked beans, potato salad, mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, collard greens, mashed potatoes
- Cheese Biscuits, sweet or unsweetened tea
- Keg beer and soft drinks are included.

There will be a tug-of-war, pinata, yard games, a bunch of people singing Rocky Top (us!), and more.

The Campaigne For TN Raises Over $1 Billion

The Campaign For Tennessee has collected over one billion dollars in donations for the University, 18 months ahead of it's scheduled end date. This is the largest fund raising effort in UT history, reaching back to the beginning in 1794. Only 28 public schools have ever been able to accomplish this. The Campaign will continue for it's scheduled completion 18 months from now. Donations can be made for all UT campuses. Please do your part and contribute now!!!
