The Third Saturday In October

Once again the Third Saturday in October falls on the 4th Saturday of October, but the meaning of this rivalry has not been diminished in the least. The first match between the two schools took place in Birmingham in 1901 (many years after both teams were organized) and ended with fans from both sides spilling on to the field to continue the match in the form of an old fashioned brawl. Though I doubt we'll see that again any time soon we do hope the Vols are able to hang in and fight with a much deeper Alabama squad.
